October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month

Congress passed a resolution declaring October as Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Awareness Month. SCA can strike persons of any age, gender, race and even those who seem in good health.

Med-Care Ambulance

Med-Care Ambulance Service is the primary emergency medical services agency for a majority of Oxford County. We provide emergency medical response to the towns of Andover, Byron, Canton Dixfield, Hanover, Mexico, Newry, Peru, Roxbury and Rumford in Oxford County, as well as to the town of Carthage in Frankin County.

Med-Care Delivers 40th AED to the River Valley Communities

Med-Care Ambulance is proud to announce its newest partnership with the Area Youth Football League. During this past weekend in between playoff games a presentation of an Automatic External Defibrillator was presented to League President Scott Gauvin.

Med-Care Launches Sparky's Safety House

An emergency can happen to any of us, at any time. What a person would need to do in a flood or a hurricane or a family emergency. Teaching the public to be prepared-providing them with the information to help take those first steps to get ready for the unexpected. This inter-active hazard house will be a tremendous addition to the ongoing programs within the River Valley and throughout Oxford County.

Heart Safe Community

Med-Care Ambulance's communities have been designated a Maine Heartsafe Community. HeartSafe Communities is a recognition program based on the "Chain of Survival", which has been implemented in other states and countries to help obtain this goal.

A Public Service

Med-Care Ambulance Service is owned by the eleven towns of the River Valley. Its governing body is a Board of Directors with representatives from all eleven towns. Finance Committee’s and Personnel Committee’s are made up of existing Board Members that are routinely utilized to assist with the budgetary and personnel processes that are ongoing throughout the year.

Education

Med-Care Ambulance has an extensive staff of educators and instructors in many topics.

Our education programs are two fold. To maintain licensure as paramedics and EMT's, our staff must spend many hours in the classroom to satisfy state mandated requirements. Med-Care Ambulance sponsors regular continuing education for its employees. We also are active in the community with our education programs.
